Situation: A depression to the north of the Chatham Islands is moving away to the east, and a cold southerly airflow over New Zealand is weakening as a ridge of high pressure advances on to the country from the Tasman Sea. Forecasts: Marlborough, Nelson: Generally fine except for cloud on the Kaikoura coast; light to moderate winds
with south-westerlies predominating; cool to moderate temperatures b\ day.
Buller, Westland: Fine with light winds. Canterbury: Rather cloudy near the coast from Banks Peninsula northwards, but fine weather elsewhere; light or moderate south-wester-lies predominating; cool. Outlook: Fair.
