New life members honoured
I Roma Smith and Ray Ellis’ I were presented with their life, members’ badges by the presi-, dent of the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association during postsection play in the Canterbury i triples championships. j Arthur Hunt spoke of the great work done by both for indoor ! bowls in Canterbury. I Roma Smith joined her husiband George as a member of 'the association in 1964 after assisting for many years in fund raising for the Kearneys Road hall. She was elected president of the ladies’ section in 1965 and 1966, and president of the U.F.S. Sub-association in 1972 after being the first lady president of the Canterbury association in 1970-71. Mrs Smith has served on most) committees and has done a fine! job as “chairman” of the match
