Mr Muldoon's health

Sir, —Judging by his television appearances of late the Prime Minister, Mr Muldoon. does not seem to be in good physical condition. He has looked extremely tired, fatigued, short of breath and considerably aged when compared with the man who assumed office some 20 months ago. Obviously he has been

under considerable strain in recent months, travelling extensively overseas and trying to prepare the 1977 Budget. Nonetheless, I understand Mr Muldoon fails to take the measures necessary to reduce the physical effects of gruelling work schedules; apparently he gets little sleep during the week and minimal exercise. All New Zealanders of whatever political persuasion should be concerned about their Prime Minister’s health and I would urge that National Party caucus members strive to ensure that their leader obtains more periods of quiet, relaxation, recreation and sleep.— Yours, etc.. JONATHAN BOSTON. July 30, 1977.
