Rhodesian judge may face arrest
NZPA-Reuter London Britain's Lord Chief Justice has cleared the way for moves to arrest a retired Rhodesian judge who once sentenced an African to death. I
Judee John Macaulay, (aged 70. is on holiday in Britain and permission for his arrest was sought by the Anti-apartheid Movement, which accused him of being a criminal.
, Lord Chief Justice Widge- | ry’s decision over-ruled that lof a London magistrate, who had declined to sanction the application for an arrest warrant.
The Anti-apartheid Movement welcomed the decision to review the magistrate’s ruling “that Rhodesian officials are not answerable for their crimes,” its solicitor said.
But Lord Widgery told the court that the first’ available time the warrant could be sought was in October.
The Anti-apartheid Movement immediately asked the Government to withdraw Judge Macaulay’s passport so that he could not leave. I and the movement is now I 'awaiting a decision. The judge was out of con-
