Law clerks to vote
Law clerks and others in the Canterbury Law Practitioners’ Employees Union, which has been in existence 40 years will vote soon on whether to disband it. The decision to hold a postal ballot on the issue was made at the union’s annual meeting on March 28, but it has taken from then until now to up-date the membership list of about 700 and prepare the ballot papers. The president of the union (Mr P. J. Doody) said yesterday that the ballot papers should be sent out by the end of this month. The ballot has been organised to find out if members are satised with the union, or would prefer to disband it and join the Canterbury Clerical Workers’ Union.
