An anti-cyclone over Australia is extending a ridge of high pressure to the south of the South Island. Forecasts: Marlborough, Nelson: In central Marlborough and Nelson light winds, rather cloudy and cool with rain at times freshening cool south-easterlies with widespread drizzle, low cloud,
and fog in Marlborough Sounds and the Kaikour. coast.
Buffer, Westland: Scatters showers about the range: elsewhere mainly fait light winds; cool.
Canterbury: Cloudy and cool, with showers near the Alps and drizzle and low cloud near the coast; moderate east or southeast winds.
