Spassky hits back in chess
NZPA Geneva The former world chess champion, Boris Spassky, came back into contention in his candidates tournament semi-final against Lajos Portisch, of Hungary, by winning the fifth game of the 16match series, Agence France Press reported. Victory puts the Russian player back on level terms with the Hungarian at 2| points. But although the win boosts Spassky’s chances, observers say he will have to show more agression if he is to defeat his opponent in the series.
