Ecumenical scholarship
A former Christchurch man, the Rev. John Roberts, who now lives in Auckland, has been awarded a World Council of Churches ecumenical scholarship. The scholarship will enable Mr Roberts to spend about five months at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, Switzerland, where he will study power, the State, and the Church. He -will leave New Zealand ;in October. A condition of the scholarship is that he spend Christmas with a Swiss family and also some time working in[ Swiss parishes. Mr Roberts was educated; at Shirley Boys’ High School and trained at St John’s College, Auckland. He holds an honours diploma in criminology and worked for two years as research officer for the Joint Committee on; Young Offenders.
