That there has been a dramatic rise in the number of “tourist beds” in Blenheim in the last three years? There are now more than 1000 beds available. Of these, 430 are licensed, 44b are motel and 192 various other beds (guest house, etc.). Most of these are relatively new — built in the last 10 years.
That because of the number of sporting organisations in Blenheim, the F enheim Borough Council has appointed a sport and recreation officer to become involved in the 300odd social, sporting and cultural organisations in the district? That almost the whole o. the central portion of
Blenheim has been, is being or is planned to be re-built?
That Blenheim is only a couple of thousand persons short of the required “city status” figure of 20,000? However, with the fall-off in the birth rate, these extra persons may have to be provided by “migrants” to Blenheim. Have you thought about shifting to a warmer, more relaxing, out-of-the-rate-race town? Try Blenheim.
That Picton, first known as Newton, was bought from the Maoris by Sir George Grey for a mere $200? Plus, of course, the re-establishment of the Maori pa at Waikawa Bay.
