Honour for naturalist
An -Auckland naturalist, Mr R. M. Lockley, will have an honorary degree conferred on him by Prince Charles when the Prince is installed as the new Chancellor of the University of Wales on July 23. Mr Lockley, who came to New Zealand in 1970. is the author of more than 40 books on conservation and wildlife. He established the first bird observatory in Britain, and others in Wales, Scotland, and the Channel Islands. He is now helping set up the first in New Zealand, on the Firth of Thames. He was the main force behind the Tahuna-Torea reserve in Glen Innes, Auckland.
