Robertson injured
PA Auckland The All Black centre, Bruce Robertson, and Peter Goldsmith, the New Zealand Maori wing, were injured when playing for Counties against Auckland yesterday — but both hope to be fit to play against the Lions on Saturday and Wednesday respectively.
Robertson was concussed in the first half and went off at half-time with a temporary loss of memory. Goldsmith disclocated his shoulder —
legacy of an old injury — but put the joint back in place and may well be able to play for the Maoris against the Lions at Eden Park next Wednesday. Counties won the match, 14-10.
The All Black wing threequarters, Grant Batty will play in the second test. Batty missed two games for Bay of Plenty since the first test and there was speculation that he would not be fit to play for the All Blacks.
“A minor hamstring injury had been causing me some concern,” said Batty yesterday. “I Contacted the national selectors and it was decided that I would play. “I’m quite happy about my fitness and I’m looking forward to playing in the test.”
