Five from Chch in N.Z. team

Five Christchurch people have been named in a New Zealand team to compete against Australia in trampoline, mini-trampo-line, and tumbling, in September. The five were named after the South Island championships for the three sports at the Horticultural Hall. The championships also served as national trials. Those chosen were;

Trampoline: Anna Gordon and Vicky Williams. Mini-trampoline: Peter Burley. Tumbling: Roy Griffiths, Burley, Rayleen Hollier, Miss Gordon. The team will defend the Trans Tasman Trophy in Adelaide. It will be managed by Ken Olley of Christchurch, and a former Christchurch man, Russell Joseph, will be the tumbling coach.

Miss Williams, aged 11 and Miss Gordon, aged 13, should be the favourites in their classes in Australia. They were second and first in the women's open trampoline on Saturday, and then combined in a fine display to win the synchronised event. The 1976 New Zealand tumbling champion. Peter Burley, injured his arm two days before the championships and was unable to compete. The selectors, however, named him in the national team on his past tumbling performances
