West Coast wins rugby
PA Westport West Coast defeated Buller in a scrappy encounter, 12-3, in a national second division rugby championship match at Westport on Saturday.
East Coast had its first home win in three years when it defeated a Hawkes Bay XV by 16-11 at Tokomaru Bay, near Gisborne on Saturday.
Rugby.—The French rugby team crushed a Buenos Aires selection, 38-4 in the opening match of their tour of Argentina. The French led only 10-0 at half-time, in the game at Buenos Aires.
