Hostages released
NZPA-Reuter Spolc Prisoners in Spoleto, Italj i held 10 guards for about hours, then freed their hostages unhurt yesterday wher they were allowed to talk with reporters, the prison authorities have reported, accord
ing to the Associated Press. About 50 prison inmate [in the central Italian town (took 12 guards hostage dur mg a mid-morning recess or Thursday and dernandec cleaner cells, better food and in some cases transfer to other jails.
Two guards were freed or Thursday evening.

The authorities say that (the inmates gave up their (protest when a group of (journalists was allowed in to (listen to their complaints. ) Spoleto’s jail is among the 'oldest in Italy, where many prisoners are housed in- ancient castles or convents Poor conditions have led t' dozens of similar revolts.
