Racing and trotting Robbie’s Talent fine prospect at Nelson
By
G. K. YULE
Robbie's Talent, one of several Southland horses to have been campaigned in the Canterbury district in recent weeks, will be one of the popular fancies in the 118 Nelson Handicap, the I . \.B. quinella race at Richmond Park today .
this race is probable the most open on the programme and betting will pobabiy cover a wide range. However, few of his rivals will be aole to match the record of Robbie's Talent, which has had two wins and two seconds from his last four starts. He won a sprint race at Addington Raceway on May 11 and last Saturday came on strongly in heavy going for third to Kvina and Michelle Bay over 2400 m at Ashburton. Robbie's Talent is one of two horses — the other is'
Jerry Hall — being campaigned on ihe circuit by Clarrie Woodward, who is also helping Harry Cox with his six-horse team. They are Paula Brigade. Mull, Buller Brigade. The Butler. Roseland Boy, and Yankee Doodle, they will be driven by Woodward when they do ; not clash with his own horses. Today Woodward will drive Paula Brigade and Butler Brigade. Michelle Bay did well when second to Kvina at, Ashburton and she will be i one of the better chances. There will also be strong] support for another former Southland horse in Super'
Chance, now trained at Dun-; ■ troon by Stuart Sutherland.' Super Chance had a win and a second at Ashburton and . - he is expected to appreciate; the firmer footing likelv at Richmond Park. ; Debra Dei, Prince Syl- : . i. vania. Armbro Jet, Colin:! i'Kirk, Happy Gift, Rodrigez,! Mull, Dan Que and Butler's;] I,Lady have all paced splendid,Ijraces at times and any one]. of them could go close to). ! i winning. !, Should the track deteriorlate Dark Vandal will be a; 'top chance. Even so, he will!. ;lfind it hard to match Rob- ■ bie’s Talent and Michelle', •'Bay.
