Shipping News Galileo Galilei to retire
Llosd Triestino, a household word in the cruise ship business (in the South Pacific—is to withdraw its passenger liner Galileo (Galilei from the Australia-Italy ; run. Lloyd Triestino says it “re- ' grets” having to announce the [ship’s retirement from a service 1 ! which began in Max, 1963. The move is a result of a ! (general reorganisation of the i group of predominantly Italian 1 Government owned shipping lines of which Lloyd Triestino is part. After the passage of a bill 1 through the Italian Parliament; ail passenger vessels of the group are to be withdrawn im-1 mediately. However, they are expected to ' be back’ in the cruise business I after extensive refitting and will! be administered by a newly ;( formed consortium in which the Italian Government will hold a ’ percentage of the shares, while the majority of the shareholders will be private shipping companies. Lloyd Triestino says it is not known in which areas the cruise : ships will operate once back in service. ARRIVALS Coastal Ranger (8.8-a.m.), 2926, , Capt. T. E. Partridge. Welling- ; ton (S.C.N.Z.).
