Australian market depressed
’ Australian sharemarkets ] closed on a depressed note j yesterday, most speculators [concentrating on take-over I situation stocks. ] The Amatil - T. A. Field! [take-over bid saw Amatil, [lose 10c to 170 c and Field gain 5c to 150 c. Sims Consolidated fell 2c to 100 c on its bid for Capital Motors — which rose 20c to 375 c. Tooth gained 8c to 175 c after its record 34 per cent profit rise, but B.H.P. eased 10c to 670 c, speculators [ apparently not impressed iwith the company’s latest I hydrocarbon show report on ■the Bass Strait fields. ■ Miners that teased, were Pancontinental which fell 90c to 1060 c, Queensland Mines 5c to 245 c, M.I.M. 6c to 220 c and W.M.C. 1c to. 166 c.
