MARKET DRIFTS LOWER
Falls outnumbered rises by mote than two to one as the New Zealand sharemarket continued to drift lower in moderately active trading yesterday. Even the increased dividend and profit of U.E.B. failed to impress, and it cased 1c to 113 c. Gear fell 2c on the withdrawal of Brierley from purchasing its shares, and Tasman eased a further 3c. Retailers and transporters were mixed, and timber and chemical firms were easier.
