Job threat for glass workers
About 70 part-time [glass workers employed by Crown Crystal Glass. I Ltd, at Hornby may [have to be laid off. The ! secretary of the Canterbury [Glass Workers’ Union (Mr IS. W. McLeod) said that redundancy talks had begun, 'but that “things were still up lin the air." He said that the workers affected were mainly women in the backup shifts. A clause in the award provides i for four weeks notice to be given to workers to be made redundant. Crown Crystal ' Glass is a division of Alex [ Harvey Industries, Ltd.
