Special correspondent Palmerston North Cleva Fella took time honours < at Woodville yesterday morning when he sprinted 600 m brilliantly. He must be hard to beat in the Apprentices’ Handicap tomorrow. Fast work took place five ( metres out on the course proper, L which was soft. He won as he , liked in his Levin debut and the extra 200 m should not trouble ] him tomorrow as he is a strong t} pe. , Hunting Chief looked ready 1 for the Palmerston North Ilandi-11 cap when he worked over 1600 m with Bahunda in Imin 55.45ec, the last 1200 m in Imin 25.1scc. Sally Deming and Bold Note were sent 1200 m In Imin 23sec. ( El Shaddai, a possible improver in the first leg, ran from the 1600 m in Imin 55sec, the last < I 1200 m in Imin 24.45ec and the final 600 m in 40sec. He won , I easily the last time he raced at ‘ Awapuni, on An/ac Day. Lady Sirdar and Tuahine went 800 m smartly In 52.75ec, the last 600 m in 38sec. Famour worked over 1600 m and u r as timed to run the last 800 m in 55sec, the final 600 m in 40sec. Norton Park required Imin 54.8sce for 1600 in. running from the 1200 m In Imin 24.45 cc. Kolob worked easily over 1600 m, run ning his last 600 m in 40.8 sec. Second leg runner Alwick, galloped 600 m in 38 Bscc. He te ready for another bold race, though he has never won two on end. Plain Ruler, a maiden chance, galloped 900 m In 53.8 sec. the last 600 m In 38.7 sec. Duraldo and Ben Conway went from the HOOm In 55.55 cc, the final 600 m in 40scc. I
