H.A.R.T. in London
The Halt All Racist Tours Movement will be represented in London during the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ Conference, which will begin on Wednesday.
This was announced yesterday by H.A.R.T.’s acting chairman (Mr M. Law).
At the movement’s national council meeting on April 30 and May 1, members had decided to ask H.A.R.T.’s research officer (Mr D. Wickham) to represent them during this period, said Mr Law. Mr Wickham represented H.A.R.T. at Montreal during the 1976 Olympic Games and had close associations with anti-apartheid groups in London and Europe, said Mr Law. He was wellknown to several African Ministers and was a friend of the. president of the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (Mr Abraham Ordia). "Mr Wickham’s duties are to inform all those with whom he has contact that the Government’s position has not. changed since the 1975 General Election,” said Mr Law.
"This particular interpretation is consistent with the more dominant line in the Prime Minister’s sttements and recent editorials in the newspapers,” he said.
