NZPA Port Moresby All West Irianese who had crossed the border into Papua New Guinea in the past month had agreed voluntarily to return, the Papua New Guinea Prime Minister (Mr Michael Somare) said
yesterday. Papua New Guinea would j be seeking assurances from Indonesia that they would! not be persecuted after their return, the Prime Minister 1
told a news conference, in the first official reaction to incidents along the Indonesian border in recent weeks. Mr Somare also said a report that a Papua New Guinean had been shot and
killed by Indonesian troops inside P.N.G. was untrue, and it was also untrue that a village near the border had been found mysteriously deserted.
