House in pit on fire
-*■ A derelict house was partly destroyed when fire broke out in a large storage pit off Halswell Junction Road, Hornby, at 8 p.m. yes- . terday. • The house, which had been ", dumped in the pit, was well • alight by the time firemen 1 arrived on the scene. The house caught fire after a small rubbish fire started in 1 the pit. J One fire appliance from • Harewood and another from Sockburn attended the blaze, which was put out in about J 10 minutes. A water truck from the! Paparua County Council was . also sent to the fire.
