Members of the Canter-1 ■ bury Chamber of Commerce. ’ will meet this month to dis-; •leuss the Canterbury Regio-! na! Planning Authority’s ; indicative plan. I They have been asked to i consider whether the population of Christchurch should be limited, and if not, what the growth problems of the city are likely to be; whether employment can be adequately provided for a dispersed population; how transport services will be affected by a dispersed population; whether industry !would be willing to move i out to the region’s boundlaries; and whether employment should be a secondary jeonsideration to the provision of houses. ! Since the report was pub-! jlished in December, the .authority’s promotion committee has encouraged the public to make its views on i the indicative plan known to ■ the authority before the (definitive plan is drawn up. The chamber will make (submissions to the authority after its special meeting on ■ June 21.
