Nyree Porter makes come-back to TV

N.Z.P.A. Staff correspondent London New Zealand actress, Nyree Dawn Porter, whose television performances have been few in the past two years, returns with a dazzling array of big names in “Night of a Hundred Stars,” an Independent Television jubilee extravaganza, on Sunday. The appearance will mark her comeback to the

small screen, the “Sunday Mirror” said. Miss Porter, best known in New Zealand for her role as Irene in “The Forsyte Saga,” has been recuperating from a knee operation for the last six months, her agent said. The injury' occurred several years ago early in Miss Porter’s career as a ballet dancer. Since then, the pain has recurred and restricted her activity increasingly. She wasn’t

able to take roles that were too active, or involved a lot of kneeling. “The operation seems to have completely cured the injury. The ‘Night of a Hundred Stars’ is a test to see how completely recovered she is,” he said. With rehearsals going well, Miss Porter has had several offers and her agent said she would make a decision on her next role by the end of June.
