Scholarship to Swiss university
PA Palmerston North The sole New Zealand recipient of a scholarship to study German literature and drama in Zurich, Switzerland, is Miss Sue Boland, of Palmerston North. Miss Boland, aged 22, is completing her M.A. in German literature at Massey University, having achieved a B.A. in German, French, and Japanese. She takes up her scholar- _ ship in October this year and will spend two full university years at the University of Zurich. “I would like to study towards a Ph.D. while I’m over there and I would like to continue studying drama,”. Miss Boland said. I She sees her selection for! ithe scholarship as a credit! Ito Massey University’slanguages department, rather, I than as a credit to herself. - “I have an aptitude for,, - languages,” she said. Miss! Boland studied English. I French, Latin. German and . Japanese in the sixth form at i Freyberg High School. She i sits all her language exami- : nation papers in the language 1 she is studying. *<
