NAURU - CENTRAL PACIFIC SERVICES SUPERINTENDENT THE NAURU PHOSPHATE CORPORATION wishes to appoint a Senior Engineer to the position of Services Superitnendent. The Sei-vices Superintendent is directly responsible for the mechanical and electrical sections of the Corporation’s operations and is responsible for 30 staff and 130 labour through a mechanical engineer and electrical engineer. The appointee will be a senior mechanical or electrical engineer and is required to have professional qualifications acceptable for admission as corporate member of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers or the Institution of Engineers, Australia, or equivalent. The Services Superintendent is expected to have a minimum of 10-15 years experience in industry with specific experience in operations and maintenance of both steam and diesel power, and power distribution associated with industry plant and domestic services. In addition to this the appointee will also be responsible for the operation of a bulk fuel installation, airconditioning workshops, radio and electronic workshop, extensive light/medium vehicle workshop, barge maintenance and general machine shop. The corporation mines, crushes and treats up to 2i million tonnes of rock phosphate per annum under the control of a production superintendent with whom the Services Superintendent is expected to liaise closely to maintain an efficient productive operation. Due to the relative industrial isolation of Nauru, the position covers an extensive range of activities and represents a demanding challenge to a competent engineer.
