Rush on bread
Supermarkets have ordered extra stocks of bread for today, after a rush yesterday by customers anticipating a long week-end. The possible strike by shop assistants tomorrow has resulted in customers "panic buying” for bread to last them during a long week-end. In some supermarkets, today’s stocks of bread
were already on the shelves yesterday afternoon. Many supermarkets have also ordered Friday’s bread to sell tomorrow if necessary. However, fresh bread will still be sold at dairies today, tomorrow and Friday. Supermarkets should be back to norma! stocks by Tuesday.
