Our aim is to present in words and pictures something of the life and people and problems of these beautiful isles. Fiji has something for eieryone. It is cessible. and yet so exotic; peaceful, and yet iere is a lot to do. It is warm in its climati id its people. For those who seek culture, Fiji s enchanting. They can experience the ant hen ic way of life, first-hand if they wish, or stand apart and observe io their heart’s content watching the woodcarvers, hand-potters, ano weavers at their crafts, or women doing theii laundry in the streams and hoys collecting lire wood from the mangrove swamps. They can have ftm at a moke, or marvel at the fire walking. There is also the strong Indian influence io breathe in—the Moslem mosques and Sikh temples, sari-clad women in the market places, apart and observe to their heart's content Brahman cattle and banyan trees, and shops and resturants offering fare from the Orient. For those in search of rest, the hotels range from family-orientated resorts well within the average tourist's budget, to luxury. Americanstandard hotels. For those in search of activity, the tropical South Pacific offers everything big-game fishing, reef fishing and viewing scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming, waler ski ing, sailing, and cruises. Baek on dry land, sunbathing is an obviou? pastime, but for the more energetic, horse riding, golf, and tennis are probably the most popular sports after the stimulating battles of wits fiercely fought in the numerous duty-free shops.
