Call for dust monitoring
Dust is an industrial hazard, and dust monitoring must be introduced in industry, according to a University of Otago survey published in the Accident Compensation Commission’s magazine. The survey says that lung function tests should be done by industry for their value in preventing sickness, accidents and mortalitv. A start should be made with industries involving toxic dusts, but the tests should be extended progressively to all industries as a part of all industrial medical examinations. The tests must be regular.
Environmental monitoring should be introduced progressively in all industries, says ♦he report.
