Robbery car hunt
The Christchurch police have drawn a blank in their search for the car believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle in last week’s robb y of Crown Crystal Glass, Ltd. The car is a cream 1968 Austin Mini, registered number DI 1819. It was reported stolen from a garage in Amyes Road, Hornby, last Wednesday evening. A masked man armed with a sawn-off shotgun
held up three men at the Crown Crystal factory in Shands Road later that evening, and escaped with a $4400 payroll. The officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Inspector N. J. Stokes, said last evening that the police were anxious to hear from anyone who might have seen the car in the last few days. “Finding it should mean a big breakthrough in the inquiry,” he said.
