The Cl pacer, Young; Charlene, realised top price; of $5500 at a sale of trotting stock held at the Addington: showgrounds yesterday. Offered on behalf of Mrs I. B. and Mr J. J. Holland, cf Wyndham, she was pur-, chased by the Mount Hutt' o w n e r-trainer, C. J ' McLaughlin, acting as agent. A four-year-old mare by Young Charles from Exmoot, I a member of the renowned First Water family, she was I formerly trained at Methven' by T. M. May. The 10-year-old mare; Heather Royal, by Ribands from Adios Heather, offered on behalf of Roydon Lodge Stud. Christchurch, was bought for $5OOO by Mr B. Forbes, of Christchurch, acting as agent. She had been served by Scottish Hanover. Highest price in the section for yearlings was $2500, paid by the Yaldhurst trainer, C. R. Berkett, for a colt bv Out to Win from Gypsy Lady. The stallion, Waitaki Hanover, was passed in, but immediately Wrightson MM.A., Ltd, Christchurch, as agents, took a 24-hour option on the 18-year-old son of Garrison Hanover at 57000. Inquiry throughout the sale was only fair and passings were frequent. Alto-: aether 59 lots were sold for $60670, an average of $lO2B.
