Irish winner for N.Z. stud
PA Auckland The luck of the Te Rapa stud omer. lan Malcolm, has taken a turn for the better with the news from Ireland that his latest sire purchase, Mussgorksy, was a winner in Ireland on Friday night (N.Z. time). Mussgorksy, by Silver Dream’s sire, Tudor Melody, from Enticement, a sister of the Australian champion sire, Showdown, was bought only hours before winning. Malcolm had been looking for a replacement for his young stallion, Boid Edge, which died from a stomach perforation a few weeks ago. Bold Edge’s death came less | than a year after that of thej stud’s veteran sire, Resurgent,! and an earlier much more seri-i OUS loss, Al] A’Light, lan Malcolm considered numerous stallion prospects before deciding on Mussgorksy. He realised the young horse was “something good” when he first saw lus credentials and his latest win, in lan Malcolm’s name and against a 16-horse field, has him convinced he has something extra. Mussgorksy will have two more starts in Ireland, the first tn a fortnight’s time, before coming to New Zealand.
