MIXED NEW ZEALAND MARKET
The New Zealand sharemarket was mixed in moderately active trading yesterday. Gear rose a further 5c on the expectations of a bid from Borthwick, and Newton King gained a similar amount on the restricturing of the company. Challenge eased 3c on the revision of its expected profit for the year, and Tasman fell a further sc, after its 50c slump on Monday. Engineers, meat companies, transporters, and stock and station agents were mixed, and retailers and financiers were easier.
