The present Dean, Professor G. R. Manton, will retire from the Deanship at the end of 1977. It is hoped therefore that the new Dean will take up duty on January 1, 1978, or as soon as possible afterwards. Applications will be Welcome from academics of scholarly standing in a discipline within the field of humanities who have held a senior university teaching position and have had some administrative experience. The Dean will be expected to devote himself to the development of the faculty and the furtherance of its work. He will be appointed to a professorship In the faculty and will be encouraged to undertake some teaching and to pursue his research interests. The duties of the Dean include acting in an advisory capacity to the Vice-Chancellor as a member of the Committee of Deans. The appointment will be Initially for five years, with provision after that period for continuation or for transfer to a Chair. SALARY: $Au5t32,752 per annum. Superannuation is based on an endowment assurance scheme, the employee and employer contributing 5 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.
