You need:— 3 cups sugar; 1 cup milk: 3 tabuspoons cocoa; 1 tablespoon butter; * cup seeded raisins; 1 tablespoon vanilla essence. First grease the bottom and sides of a 20cm (Sin) tin. Next, put the sugar, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan and cook over a low heat. Stir all the time until the sugar is dissolved. Bring the mixture to the boil and keep it boiling until a teaspoon of it, when dropped into a saucer of cold water, forms a soft ball. Test from time to time if necessary. When the mixture has reached the . soft ball stage, remove the pan from the heat. Add the butter, raisins, and vanilla essence to the mixture and beat it until it is creamy. Pour it into the greased tin. When it is cold, cut into squares.
