Tony Randall

The Emmy award-winning actor, Tony Randall, brings: his comic talents to his ' series “The Tony Randall Show” (S.P.T., Mondays) in; which he portrays Judge! Walter Franklin, a widower I with two children living in; Philadelphia. Randall, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of an art dealer, has maintained a long and passionate interest in both art and music. After graduation from Tulsa’s Central High School, he attended Northwestern ■ University where he majored in speech and drama. Randall made his Broadway debut in 1941 in “A Circle of Chalk.” and then; appeared with Ethel Barry-i more in “The Corn is ' Green” and later with Jane'’ Cowl in “Candida.” His first post-war acting was in summer stock in Washington. D.C. He then moved to New York for a place in Henry Morgan’s popular radio show.

In the theatre, he appeared with Katharine Corn!ell in “Antony and Cleopatra*’ and as the stuttering [brother in “The Barretts of ;Wimpole Street.” j He was also seen in “Caesar and Cleopatra” wi 'i Lilli Palmer and Sir Cedric Hardwicke, and in “Oh Men. Oh (Women ” which established his reputation as a farceur. His feature films include “Th. Main Game,” “Let’s Make Love,” “Pillow Talk,” and “The Seven Faces of Dr Lao.” For five years Randal! starred in the ABC television comedy, “The Odd Couple,” as the hyper-fastid-ious photographer, Felix Unger, and received an Emmy in 1975 as out- ; standing lead actor in a comedy series for that characterisation.

Queen jostled

An excited, semi-hysterical crowd of 10,000 people has pushed and jostled Queen and Prince Philip during a walkabout which got out of control in Dundee, Scotland. The Royal couple, on the third day of their silver jubilee tour of Scotland, escaped unhurt after the crowds trampled down single rope barriers and surrounded them up to 15 persons deep.—Dundee.
