An anticyclone east of the Chatham Islands is moving slowly away to the east. A broad complex frontal band is moving eastwards over New Zealand followed by showery westerlies. A large depression in the south Tasman Sea is moving slowly south-eastwards. Forecasts:
Marlborough, Nelson: Fresh north-westerlies about the sounds; mainly fine, but showers persisting about the western ranges of Nelson and possibly isolated showers elsewhere; rather mild.
