N.Z. four has two bowls wins
PA London Norma de la Motte, of Papua New Guinea, is the pacemaker after the first three series of the singles at the women’s world bowls championships at Worthing, Sussex. Mrs de la Motte, competing on grass for the first time, made it three wins out of three when she beat the English number one. Mavis Steel, yesterday. Elsie Wilkie, the defending champion from New Zealand, recovered from two defeats to register her first win of the competition in the third series. Her victim was Norma Massey (Australia).
New Zealand beat Scotland, 24-12, in the second series of the fours, and beat Australia, 23-20, in the third series.
