$250,000 for Cathedral

The Christchurch Cathedral restoration appeal passed the quarter-million mark on Friday, and yesterday it had reached about $260,000. To mark the occasion, the chairman of the appeal committee (Mr J. Collins) presented the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. M. L. Underhill) with a bottle of sherry. "The presentation was also to mark the very important contribution Dean Underhill has made to the leadership of the campaign,” Mr Collins said. The target for the appeal is $400,000. Rural committees working for the appeal have been divided into three sections — Mid-Canter-bury, Peninsula and North Canterbury.
