Late news: No change
! There was no change in [the leading positions after ’the third special stage of the ; Radio New Zealand rally [early this morning. Fulvio Bacchelli, of Italy, 'was still leading in his Fiat Abarth 131. John Sergei, of Christchurch. was still enjoying a trouble-free run and was starting at No. 6, after many of the leaders had dropped back to fix small problems. Mike Marshall, of Auckland, won the second special stage and then struck trouble when he stopped to change a tyre in the touring stage. His Escort’s jack broke and by the time he fixed it he had [ lost many starting positions, [ which would leave him facing ' traffic problems later in the k night. ! None of the South Island ■ drivers reported any problems and the Parkes Brothers, of Nelson, were leading their class by a country mile.
