Urban renewal survey
Wellington reporter A national survey on urban renewal has been begun by the National Housing Commission to establish what Work is being done and how it could be improved. The first six-month phase ;of the survey will look at Show the Urban Renewal and Housing Improvement Act, 1945, is working. Mr P. Constantine, of the commission, iwill be talking to the appropriate local authorities about what they are doing ir the way of urban renewal. ■ why and how they are doing it, and how this can be improved. The second phase will in-, volve making changes and improvements to the empowering legislation, and the commission hopes to produce an urban renewal manual as well. An effort is being made with the Valuation Department to assess the houses within New Zealand suitable for urban renewal. No national figures are available on this.
