FIRMER N.Z. SHAREMARKET
The New Zealand sharemarket began the week on a firmer note in active trading yesterday. Interest again surrounded Bonds after the offer by A. S. Paterson late last week, and the news of another possible bidder. Bonds ordinary shares sold from 135 c to 140 c for a gain of 30c, and the rights traded between 85c and 90c also for a 30c gain. Another active issue was New Zealand Breweries; 156,900 ordinary shares and 60,000 preference shares were traded. Insurance and freezing companies were' firmer, engineers and financiers mixed, and chemical and timber firms easier.
