Tourism on display
Award-winning New Zealand tourist facilities will be i featured in a public display lin the Christchurch Town [Hall foyer tomorrow. Six awards and six com[mendations were presented Hast November by the Minister of Tourism (Mr l.apwood) for the tourist facilities, which include a range of I accommodation, landscaping, [restoration, and other projects. Thirty-eight entries were received for the competition, the aim of which is to cause a greater awareness of environmental factors, and the use of good design in tourist facilities. The only South Island award-winning entry was the Shantytown project near Greymouth, a replica of a West Coast gold-mining town in the late nineteenth century. The Blue Peaks Lodge Motel, in Queenstown, and the Golden Terrace mining town, near Queenstown, were awarded special commendations. All 12 award-winning tourist facilities projects will be illustrated in the display.
