Helicopter lifts out youth
An Iroquois helicopter made an emergency flight last evening to. the Arthur’s Pass National Park to pick up an injured climber. The youth, Dale Coulter, aged 18. of St Clio Street. Ham. suffered serious head and leg injuries and shock when he fell on Rugged Peak about noon yesterday. A member of his party returned to the Casey Hut
after a three-hour tramp and called the park headquarters, which notified the Greymouth police. Shortly afterwards, the Iroquois left the R.N.Z.A.F. base. Wigram, and returned to Christchurch with the injured climber at 7.35 p.m. The helicopter landed in Hagley Park and the youth was transferred by ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital.
