University Vacancies VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON THE COUNCIL of the Victoria University of Wellington invites applications from men and women for the following vacancies: SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN ARCHITECTURE This position, for the 1977 teaching programme, is in the newly-established second School of Architecture in New Zealand, which commenced in 1975. Applicants should be Architects or Building Graduates with a speciality in Construction Technology. Appointees will be expected to participate in the work of the School in general, to co-ordinate part-time specialist lecturers, and to assume responsibility for the development and teaching of subjects, tutorial work, and laboratory work in the 8.8.5 c. and B.Arch. courses. Appointees will also be expected to carry out a limited amount of consulting work, or private practice, or research work. Applicants must have professional and academic experience, preferably a higher degree, or be willing to work towards obtaining a higher degree on a part-time basis within the first term of appointment. The task of establishing new courses calls for versatile personalities who are prepared to participate in the full integration of all subjects of the teaching programme. The university is anxious for the appointee to be settled in Wellington as close to August, 1977, as possible. IN PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT The appointment, within the Department of Business Administration, requires persons who have qualifications and interests in the production and operations aspect of management. The department’s teaching responsibilities cover undergraduate and graduate programmes and the Diploma of Business Administration for practising managers. The appointment will be made with normal tenure or with limited tenure (minimum three years). Applicants should state whether they would be prepared to accept a limited term appointment. The appointment will commence no earlier than February 1, 1978. However, depending on the circumstances an earlier date may be agreed from August 1, 1977. The department has an active research programme, its own Research and Commentary publication series and emphasises research into relevant business problems in New Zealand and the development of more New Zealand based case studies and teaching materials. Further information about the Department of Business Administration may be obtained by writing directly to Professor G. Fogelberg, Head of the Department. The new salary scales for academic staff announced in February, 1977, and effective from May 15, 1977. are for Senior Lecturers, $11,500 to $13,250 per annum, where there is a bar, then $14,250 per annum, and for Lecturers, $9OOO to $ll,lOO per anunm. A cost of living allowance of $365 per anumn is paid in addition to salary. A general salary increase has been announced but its effect is unkown at present. The successful applicant will be required to assist with practical work at all first year classes and a variety of second and third year classes, depending on his/her field of specialisation.
