Lecturer to bid for seat
PA Wellington Dr Alan Levatt, aged 45, a sociology lecturer at Victoria University, was selected last evening as the Labour candidate to fight the Pahiatua by-election.
Dr Levatt has a Ph.D. from Michigan University and has lectured in American universities.
He was selected ahead of six other candidates, including two former Labour candidates for the seat, Mr Trevor De Cleene and Mr Paul Thornicroft.
