Five party hopefuls in Pahiatua
PA Masterton Five National Party members to contest the final selection for the Pahiatua byelection were named last evening after a pre-selection meeting. They are Mr G. P. Adam, aged 51, of Eketahana, a comnany. director and former Mayor of Eketahuna; Mr G. Cassidy, aged 42. of Waipukurau, a managing director and member of the Hawkes Bay Harbour Board; Mr J. H, Faloon, aged 35, of Masterton. a farmer, meat and wool chairman for the Wairarapa branch of Federated Farmers; Mr H. F. W. Kynoch, aged 34 of Ashlev Clinton, a farmer and runner-up for Young Farmer of the Year” in 1972: and Mr I. W. Macpherson, aged 36. of Norsewood, a farmer and chairman of the Norsewood branch of Federated Farmers. The pre-selection was made from a field of 16. Polling day in the bv-e!ec-tion will be Anril 30, and nominations will close on April 7. Golf.—The Australian, Jan Ste- ' nhenson. turned four straight birdies on her final nine hole* iinto a one-shot lead with a 68 'in the first round of the inaugural Ladies’ Professional Golf Associatlbn-KathH-n Crnsb” golf 'tournament, at Rancho Santa Fe, California.
