Situation: A small depression to the west of Northland is moving slowly southwards, and weakening. An anticyclone to the east of the Chatham Islands extends a ridge on to the South Island, while another high to the north of Macquarie Island is moving eastwards. Forecasts: Marlborough, Nelson: Moderate winds from the easterly quarter; overcast and
rather mild, with occasional rain. Buller, Westland: Fresh north-easterlies; cloud increasing, and scattered rain likely during the day in Buller. Canterbury: Moderate winds from between south and east: cloudy with areas of mainly light rain likely during the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook: Unsettled in all dis- 1 tricts.
