Motor-cycle servicemen from throughout the South Island watching the Yamaha factory representative, Mr Mick Kimara, of Japan (right), and Mr Murray Elliot, of New Plymouth, assembling a complex, new three-cylinder motor-cycle engine at a special Yamaha training school in Christchurch yesterday. The three-cylinder, twin overhead camshaft, four-stroke engine is the same as that which will be used to power the XS750D Yamaha shaft-driven tourer, expected in New Zealand next month. It is the only engine of its type produced in Japan. The servicemen, from left, are Ken May (Christchurch), John Welsford (Dunedin).
